The Poppy is a steel-bodied press in a matte mustard coat that looks like breakfast should feel. Underneath the color it is built seriously: a single-wall stainless carafe that preheats in seconds with a swirl of hot water, a snug mesh plunger with a black soft-touch knob, and a spout that pours clean. Steel will not crack in the sink or cloud with scratches the way glass and plastic do. Brew it the standard way — coarse grind, 200°F water, 1:15 ratio, four-minute steep — and decant after pressing so the coffee stops extracting. Makes two good mugs. The powder-coat finish wipes clean and hides fingerprints; hand-wash to keep it bright. A working brewer that happens to be the happiest thing on the shelf.
