Kohaku is the slow-morning counterpart to our glass cone: dense slip-cast ceramic, fired thick, with a polished interior and precisely raked ribs. The mass is functional — preheat it for thirty seconds and the cone becomes a heat reservoir that keeps the slurry in the extraction-friendly zone through the whole pour, which matters most on small single-cup brews where temperature drops fastest. The rib geometry holds the paper slightly off the wall so the bed drains from its full surface, not just the tip. Recipe to start: 15 g coffee, 250 g water at 200°F, medium grind, finished by three minutes. It is heavier in the hand than it looks and steadier on a mug for it. Standard small cone filters.
