The Feinmahl 28 shrinks the Feinmahl formula to a grinder that fits a jacket pocket. Its 38 mm stainless conical burrs ride on the same dual-bearing shaft as the full-size model, so a single-cup dose of 20 grams grinds evenly rather than in a mix of boulders and dust. The stepped adjustment ring clicks through the pour-over and press range; note that like most compact grinders it is happiest at medium settings — very fine espresso grinding takes patience and effort by hand. A rubberized grip band keeps the body from spinning in your hand, and the crank folds nothing away — it simply unscrews and stores inside the catch cup. About 90 seconds of cranking per cup at a pour-over setting.
