Insulated presses usually cost like small appliances; the Thermal Mate does not. Its double-wall stainless body keeps the four-minute steep from going cold — a real problem with glass in a chilly kitchen, since extraction slows as temperature falls and the cup lands flat and sour. The handle stays cool, the base will not mark the counter, and the whole thing survives being knocked into the sink. Brew coarse at 1:15 with water around 200°F; after pressing, pour all of it out or into a mug and thermos, because even in an insulated press, coffee sitting on grounds keeps extracting toward bitterness. Two-mug capacity, parts that unscrew for a proper wash, and a price that leaves room for better beans.
