The Daybreak exists to answer one question: what is the least you can spend and still get a real steel-burr grind? Its 38 mm stainless conical burrs produce a noticeably more even grind than any blade grinder — blades chop beans into random sizes, which makes part of your brew over-extract while the rest under-extracts. Stepped adjustment covers medium-fine through coarse, which is the honest range for pour-over, press, and cold brew; we would not push it for espresso. The 25-gram chamber suits a single large mug. The trade-offs at this price are simple: a lighter body, a bit more crank effort, and slightly wider particle spread than our premium grinders. For a first setup, it is the right kind of cheap.
