A tamper has one job: compress the coffee bed evenly so water cannot find an easy path through it. The truth about tamping is that level matters far more than force — once the grounds are fully compacted, pressing harder changes nothing, but a tilted tamp channels every shot. The Solido's straight sidewall gives you a visual reference against the basket rim to keep things square. Choose the size that matches your portafilter: 51 mm and 54 mm for most compact machines, 58 mm for full-size groups. Fit is snug by design, with about half a millimeter of clearance.
